05/14/08 - POTD

First I wanted to thank everyone for the sweet comments on yesterday's post. I'm hoping I can break into the senior market this year. It's huge around here but not much for variety.

I'm off theme and unfortunately I'm going to bore you with more photos of Piper. I can't believe how much she has grown in just a month. Just so you know Jack Russell's are extremely smart. This pup knows how to sit, down stay (during our whole meal), go to bed when told, rollover, down, out, go outside . . . we're still working on the come when we are outside LOL! She gets easily distracted and uses her selective hearing during those calls. But all in all, I am extremely happy with our choice of breed. I heard so many horror stories and got so many reactions when I said what breed we were getting. We must have been lucky because she is nothing like the typical Jack Russell stereotype!

My DH and I took her for a walk through the field next to our house. She has to jump the whole time because she is a shorty. I know I blew out the white, it's tough shooting white in full sun especially when she was bounding through the field.

I love this one with DH's legs in the shot. They spend a lot of time together during the day when I'm at work. For a "dog hater", he has definitely stepped up to the plate and taken great care of her and he has developed a soft spot for her too ;)

I had to show this one LOL! Everytime she jumped she hacked because I believe the pollen was going down her throat. I actually didn't blow out the white in this shot! I'm still trying to love my new Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. I'm still not feeling it.
Look at how yellow she got. She really needed a drink but was afraid of the water.

Sorry for the big share but I did want to document her 3 months ;)

05/13/08 - POTD - Catchlights

These aren't exactly new photos, but they are newer. "V" is one of my senior reps and I was looking for any cc you can give. I really want to improve and it isn't going to happen without hard core cc!

I added this one first because the theme is catchlights :)

Another board suggested I try an urban acid on these - what do you think?

Here is the original one. This was actually for fun but I really liked how it came out. We did a few serious ones like she was watching the TV too!

One of my favs!
Used some of Leah's textures on this one.

POTD - 5/12/08

These aren't new photos but I finally finished processing some. We went down to PA for a photography get together and Schyler was one of the models. I really didn't take a lot of photos of her but I did proof all of them :)

Schyler really enjoyed doing this and the more compliments the girls gave her the more she poured it on!

All of my shots were taken with me coming up the rear and getting a few after everyone else was done.

Here are my favs of the other 2 models!

POTD - 5/1/08

This wasn't really what I had in mind for this pink chair. I invisioned a toddler with a tutu in a field. Well I guess you can say I have the toddler part right. This is Piper our 11 week old Jack Russell. I promised a few people I'd get some of these up, so here they are.

I was running out of daylight fast!

It's a Girl!!!

We brought our little girl home yesterday. It was a great weekend! We went down to PA for a long weekend and I met up with a great group of girls for a photography get-together. Julie (justjulie) here from 2peas was there and I can now say I finally met a pea! :)

We drove down to Delaware to pick up Piper. I was able to keep the secret for a whole month and when we got there Schyler was so confused as to what was going on. LOL! It still hadn't registered with her even with Piper jumping all over her.

Piper settled in and slept for about 4 hours until we hit a rest stop. We let her run around on the hill. We still had 3 more hours before we arrived home but she basically was like having a baby in the car as soon as the car started moving she fell back to sleep.

Piper is a very cheerful little girl, she is so excited to see people and greets everyone that came to see her with a big wag and a huge kiss! Here she's settling in for a long road trip.

Didn't take long and she was out!
Today was her vet appointment. She got her second set of shots. Unfortunately she had an allergic reaction and we had to run her back. Her eyes swelled shut and her nose and mouth really swelled too. The vet said sometimes that happens. They gave her benadryl and a steroid shot. It's been a few hours now and she's starting to look normal again.

4/4/08 - POTD - Spring

Here's a sure sign of Spring. . . muddy running sneakers! Finally was able to get out on the roads and get a few miles in. DD went with me too. The plan is for her to run in a few 5K races with me. She can handle a mile, no problem, but today we ran 2 and she had a little bit of trouble getting back. I think she did great though considering she's only 9 and it's her first year. She just needs to learn to pace herself instead of worrying about beating mom!

Had to try out one of Leah's textures - I can't wait to get out and shoot more so I can play with these.
I like the color version of this one with the field in the background for some reason.

POTD - 4/2/08 - Spring

Spring, huh. . .yeah, that's funny. No Spring here! The only signs of spring here are man made. My DH has quite the green thumb. He can produce massive beef steak tomatoes, x-large green, yellow and red peppers. Last year he successfully grew brussell sprouts. Due to the fact that he has been out of work with a back injury since October and it has been a very long winter, he decided to start growing early this year. Within 2 weeks, this is what he's got so far. These litterly grew overnight. . . one day nothing, the next day bam!

I just have to say that Broadband is a wonderful thing! This post took 2 minutes to load - amazing! Dial-up is history!
