POTD - 6/1/08

We finally got some decent weather to photograph my nieces with my new parasols. They were pretty excited about them. Unfortunately for me, we had full sun and almost no shade. I should have tried the off-camera flash (I just learned how to do that), but I didn't have a helper to hold my monopod. It would have been a perfect opportunity for me to practice.

My nieces are pretty difficult to photograph. They tend to stiffen up and give me fake smiles. We had fun this time and they seemed a little more relaxed.

I LOVE this one of Lindsay

Another of my favs! I knew if I had all the girls face away from me that little miss Madison would turn around to see what I was doing (she always does!). It worked out perfect!
Do you like it in color or BW?
She loved playing peek-a-boo around the tree and I was able to get some natural smiles from her too.
Love, love this one. One advantage of full sun is I was able to get some dramatic lighting for this shot.

I struggle with more than one person. I always seem to have one person out of focus or their faces tend to look pixelly(sp?). I'm pretty sure my aperture was f8. Anyone got any tips for shooting more than one person? This was like one of the only shots where they all looked in focus and not pixellated.

My try at backlighting. This was Alexis' try at being serious LOL! She looks po'ed if you ask me LOL!

As usual, I'd love some CC! Thanks for looking.

POTD - 05/21/08 - Happiness

Here's some more of my happiness :) Although the look on her face doesn't look very happy. She was fine, just tries to be too serious when we practice. I think she forgets to smile.

There's one :)
I was trying to be creative with the branches and frame her but it doesn't look like I envisioned. Her eyes look dead in these two. She's usually my reflector holder so no reflector was used.

05/19/08 - POTD - Happiness

Today is my 20 year anniversary at my job! I started there at the age of 18, so I have worked at the law firm for a little more than 1/2 my life, seems weird. So I guess you could say I'm "happy" there. I don't know if it brings me happiness. . . who really enjoys going to work everyday? I really do like where I work and my bosses are a great group of guys!

P.S. I think for my anniversary I'm going to buy myself a gift . . . a new lens! I'm thinking about getting the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 - whatcha think?

So on to my real happiness. . .my two babies! :) We had a 10 minute photo shoot today. It was really wet and we couldn't do what we wanted so we stayed in the roadway. I tried my expodisc for the second time on these. This time it worked much better for me than the last. Although I tried my new Sekonic L358 light meter and it didn't help at all! The reading was way off. So I have another gadget to figure out.

I love this one how she's pointing LOL! Look at her tail, it's straight back and her little paw is up.
Thanks for looking and if you want to cc, feel free!

05/15/08 - POTD - Catchlights

Thank you again for all the sweet comments yesterday. Piper has been such a joy to our family.

I'm back on theme! "K" is another one of my senior reps this year. She's a cheerleader and lots of fun! Feel free to give any cc you have! Thank you.

The kids love this stuff so I put one together and of course she LOVED it and wanted it for her myspace.

05/14/08 - POTD

First I wanted to thank everyone for the sweet comments on yesterday's post. I'm hoping I can break into the senior market this year. It's huge around here but not much for variety.

I'm off theme and unfortunately I'm going to bore you with more photos of Piper. I can't believe how much she has grown in just a month. Just so you know Jack Russell's are extremely smart. This pup knows how to sit, down stay (during our whole meal), go to bed when told, rollover, down, out, go outside . . . we're still working on the come when we are outside LOL! She gets easily distracted and uses her selective hearing during those calls. But all in all, I am extremely happy with our choice of breed. I heard so many horror stories and got so many reactions when I said what breed we were getting. We must have been lucky because she is nothing like the typical Jack Russell stereotype!

My DH and I took her for a walk through the field next to our house. She has to jump the whole time because she is a shorty. I know I blew out the white, it's tough shooting white in full sun especially when she was bounding through the field.

I love this one with DH's legs in the shot. They spend a lot of time together during the day when I'm at work. For a "dog hater", he has definitely stepped up to the plate and taken great care of her and he has developed a soft spot for her too ;)

I had to show this one LOL! Everytime she jumped she hacked because I believe the pollen was going down her throat. I actually didn't blow out the white in this shot! I'm still trying to love my new Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. I'm still not feeling it.
Look at how yellow she got. She really needed a drink but was afraid of the water.

Sorry for the big share but I did want to document her 3 months ;)

05/13/08 - POTD - Catchlights

These aren't exactly new photos, but they are newer. "V" is one of my senior reps and I was looking for any cc you can give. I really want to improve and it isn't going to happen without hard core cc!

I added this one first because the theme is catchlights :)

Another board suggested I try an urban acid on these - what do you think?

Here is the original one. This was actually for fun but I really liked how it came out. We did a few serious ones like she was watching the TV too!

One of my favs!
Used some of Leah's textures on this one.

POTD - 5/12/08

These aren't new photos but I finally finished processing some. We went down to PA for a photography get together and Schyler was one of the models. I really didn't take a lot of photos of her but I did proof all of them :)

Schyler really enjoyed doing this and the more compliments the girls gave her the more she poured it on!

All of my shots were taken with me coming up the rear and getting a few after everyone else was done.

Here are my favs of the other 2 models!
